Visual Information Management
In modern net-centric enterprises, decision makers must process extraordinary amounts of information. For this information to be useful it must be integrated, organized, and presented so that decision makers can rapidly assimilate, understand, and respond to operational situations.
Stanfield Systems’ VISUAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (VIM) extends the human capacity to understand and manage information. This innovative approach advances the state of the art in information management with computer-generated visualizations that are cognitively mapped to the problem domain.
At the core of VIM is a toolkit of innovative software components for information collection, organization, analysis, and presentation. Backed by a plug-and-play software architecture and agile engineering processes, we can tailor the VIM toolkit for a broad range of information domains and enterprise needs.
By tailoring visual tools to closely match cognitive models of the information space, Visual Information Management improves understanding of complex information relationships and patterns. Zoomable browsers maintain these mental models while enabling simultaneous visual access to thousands of information objects. Direct manipulation using drag-and-drop visual interfaces provides users direct control over the information space. With this control, users can intuitively filter relevant information, redefine relationships, highlight important concepts, or otherwise adapt their view of the information space to better match their individual mental model.
Visual Information Management leverages information integration applications, ontologies, and other infrastructure capabilities for accessing and organizing vast, disparate information sources. These capabilities are integrated into an agile information architecture designed to enable interactive visualization and system evolution.
Visualization Toolkit
TheVisual Information Management Toolkitconsists of a drag-and-drop framework for designing custom visualizations and integrating them with user specified information sources. The VIM Toolkit includes zoomable browsers for managing large collections that can be modeled as sets, trees, or graphs. Users can insert predefined or custom-built interactive visual widgets into these browsers to tailor the visual presentation to any information domain.
The VIM toolkit utilizes configurable components to adapt and monitor dynamic information sources. Operating in near real-time, these components report and analyze changing information to ensure users are always presented with the most current information.
